Author(s):

Abstract:

India has set a lofty and complex goal to become a developed country by 2047, the 100th anniversary of its independence. The main factors behind this change and the sectoral catalysts that are necessary are described in this abstract. A mix of targeted sectors growth, strategic policy reforms, and macroeconomic stability will propel the economy's transition from a developing to a developed one. India's vast domestic consumer base and demographic dividend are the main drivers. In order to guarantee that this demographic advantage translates into high-value job creation and sustainable economic growth, a crucial focus will be on skilling, upskilling, and increasing female labour force participation in light of a young and expanding workforce. At the same time, a strong and growing local market will remain a major growth engine that draws in both international and domestic investment.
Several important industries are seen as catalysts to accomplish this goal. With an emphasis on fields like Artificial Intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and digital manufacturing, technology and innovation will play a major role. In addition to improving governance and the provision of public services, the digital transformation made possible by programs like Digital India will also give rise to a thriving digital economy.
The manufacturing industry is about to undergo a dramatic change, evolving from a net importer to an export-driven, globally competitive centre. Chemicals, electronics, and automobiles especially electric ones are strategic growth levers. At the same time, the services industry, which has historically been strong, will keep growing, shifting toward higher-value services and rising to the top of the global professional and digital services market.
Infrastructure development is essential for the sustainability of the economy and the environment, particularly in the areas of logistics and renewable energy. For a sustainable future, India's dedication to green growth with an emphasis on solar, green hydrogen, and other clean energy sources will be essential. Every person will be empowered by social changes that guarantee both quick and inclusive growth, such as universal access to high-quality healthcare, education, and financial inclusion. In conclusion, the government and industry must work together to realize the goal of a "Viksit Bharat" by 2047. This endeavour will be supported by a youthful, highly qualified workforce and targeted investments in high-impact industries, all the while emphasizing sustainable and equitable growth.
