Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay was a visionary Indian philosopher and political leader who proposed an indigenous economic model rooted in the cultural and spiritual traditions of India. His philosophy of Integral Humanism presents a holistic framework for development, which balances material needs with ethical and spiritual values. This research paper aims to critically examine the economic thought of Deendayal Upadhyay as an alternative to Western capitalist and socialist models. The primary objective is to explore how his core concepts such as decentralization, swadeshi, self-reliance, and the ‘Seven M’s’ (Man, Material, Money, Management, Motive Power, Market, and Machine) can contribute to the creation of an inclusive and sustainable economic structure in modern India. Additionally, the study seeks to assess the relevance and applicability of the economic philosophy of Upadhyay in addressing contemporary challenges such as inequality, regional disparities, global trade conflicts, and the search for an ethical development path in the 21st century. Ultimately, the paper aims to highlight the potential of his vision in guiding India toward the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) by aligning economic growth with national values and human dignity.
