The COVID-19 pandemic significantly affected rural agricultural practices and livelihoods, particularly in the Kolhapur district of Maharashtra. This study investigates the impact of COVID-19 on agriculture, government and NGO interventions, and the challenges faced by rural communities during the crisis. Conducted across five villages in Kolhapur taluka using purposive sampling, data were collected through interviews, observation, and group discussions. Findings reveal that 75% of Rabi crops and small and marginal farmers were most affected, with delayed harvesting and financial losses being prominent issues. While government interventions prioritized agriculture and fisheries, significant gaps in relief distribution, including lack of funding and awareness, were reported. NGOs played a pivotal role in providing aid, but challenges such as supply chain disruptions and employment shortages persisted. The study underscores the need for enhanced financial support, expanded relief measures, and long-term strategies to strengthen rural resilience against future crises.
