Author(s):

Tanvi

Abstract:

This research paper examines the representation of women in Indian English fiction from some of Anita Desai, Shashi Deshpande, and Bharati Mukherjee's novels. These authors have given us the female protagonists struggling with identity, tradition, and freedom, capturing the complexities of Indian womanhood. The work addresses topics such as female subjectivity, marriage conflict, socio-cultural constraints, migration, and empowerment. From a feminist perspective, the paper examines how these writers critique patriarchy and redefine the roles of women in Indian literature and society.
