Environmental problems in India

Author(s):

Dr. Shiv Ji Malviya

Abstract:

India has many environmental problems. Air pollution, water pollution, garbage and pollution of the natural environment are challenges for India. The environmental situation was very bad from 1947 to 1995. Still, India has a long way to go to reach similar environmental quality to the level of countries with developed economies. India has a great challenge and opportunity. Some have cited economic growth as the cause of environmental issues. Others believe economic growth is the key to improving India's environmental management and curbing the country's pollution. It has also been suggested that growing population is the primary cause of India's environmental degradation. Systematic studies have challenged this theory.
